P-TS7 Portable and Wired Touchscreen LCD Shortage and Leaking Touchscreens
Issue
We have seen a small percentage of P-TS7 Wall Mount, Portable, and Handheld Touchscreens that, over time, begin forming bubbles inside the screen or leaking adhesive. This is due to a defective adhesive that, if left alone, will not interrupt day to day function of the touchscreen, but will eventually leak. We have been repairing these screens under warranty, regardless of the original warranty status of the touchscreen, since we first discovered this issue.
Solution
If your touch screen is exhibiting these traits, please reach out to your ETC authorized dealer of choice with the following information to initiate the warranty repair process:
- Serial number of the effected touchscreen(s)
- Firmware version of the touchscreen, this will be the same verson as the Paradigm Architectural Control Processor
For instructions on removing the touch screen and finding the firmware version, please refer to the video below.
Note on cleaning: any adhesive remover works to clean up the delaminated adhesive from a screen, but the best option our repairs department has found is lighter fluid (such as Ronsonol) to fully clean up the adhesive.
Screens Running Firmware Versions 3.1.1 or below
Due to supply chain issues, all touchscreens that are repaired for this issue will be receive a newer version of the screen called an R2 bezel. R2 bezels are only compatible with Paradigm versions 4.x and higher. If your touchscreen is running an earlier version of firmware, you'll need to have an ETC Authorized Service Provider come out and update the rest of your system to be compatible with the repaired screen. Per our Warranty Statement, ETC will not cover the labor costs associated with this upgrade. We will only cover the repair of the actual screen under our warranty.
