When updating from version 7 to version 8 software:

Cobalt v8.x software will be installed parallel to version 7.x software on Windows 7 Embedded Console Hardware
(see
Is My Console XP or Windows 7 ). Cobalt v8.x software is not compatible with Congo consoles running Windows XPe.
You can switch back to v7.x software on startup by pressing the Down arrow or the F3 key, and back to the v8.x software by pressing the Right arrow or the F5 key continually (or repeatedly) after the mouse cursor appears.
To use v8.x show files in v7.x, you must export the v8.x show files back to the ASCII format. Not all features from 8.x are supported in v7.x software.

Caution-Icon.png Cobalt Software v7.2.0 and newer requires I/O firmware versions 1.6.0.9.0.5 (Congo) and 1.4.1.9.0.3 (Congo jr, Congo Kid, Congo Light Server) or newer to allow DMX and RDM to function properly on the local DMX ports. The installation of this firmware is included in the Cobalt software installer. Please follow the installation instructions within the installer to ensure that the firmware is installed properly.
