Replacing Screws on Haptic Display with Nylon Screws on Apex Class Hardware

Nylon Screw Replacement

If instructed and given parts through Tech Services, here are the steps in replacing the screws on the haptic displays with new nylon screws (ETC PN# HWM1938) on Apex Family consoles.

There is a video at the end of this article.

Fix/Solution

  • Identify one of the Haptic displays
    • All Apex Consoles have a 6.3" Display attached to the facepanel keyboard
    • Apex 5 has one 5" Haptic Display attached the the single bank of motorized faders
    • Apex 10 has two 5" Haptic Displays
    • Apex 20 has four 5" Haptic Displays

  • Begin by selecting one display to work on
  • Replace the bottom left screw
    • Only use a #1 Phillips screw driver
    • Only hand tighten screw, do not over tighten
      • Over-tightening will strip the screw and cause it to fail

Only replace one screw at a time. Do not remove multiple silver screws at once.
