Replacing the GPU on Eos Apex Consoles

Explanation 

It may sometimes be necessary to reseat the Graphics Card (GPU) from Eos Apex Consoles if display issues are found on console screens or OLED button modules. The steps below will walk you through identifying and reseating the GPU.

Required Materials 

  • Philips Screwdriver

  1. Power off the console and fully disconnect power
  2. Open up the back of the console following the steps in this article
    1. Completely Removing the IO Garage on Eos Apex Consoles for Service
  3. Locate the GPU, by it's copper heat sink, near the rear fan
  4. Using a philips head screw driver, remove the two screws circled in red in this image

  1. Gently lift up on the graphics card separating it away from the standoffs
    1. This should only be lifted a few centimeters so that it stands at about a 30deg angle from the input connection.

  1. Gently pull straight out from the connector on the right side of this photo. This will release the card.

  1. We do not need to remove the GPU, however this is what the whole component looks like.
  2. To reseat the GPU follow these steps in reverse and make sure that when mounting the card back into the connector to have it come in at the same 30deg angle.
