Replacing the Keyboard Tray in Eos Apex Consoles

Introduction

This support post will walk you through replacing the keyboard tray in Eos Apex 5,10 and 20. Not all images show all three models.

Required Materials

  • Replacement keyboard tray (ETC PN 4450A3249)
  • #1 Phillips Screwdriver
  • #2 Phillips Screwdriver
  • Snips for cutting a zip tie
  • Spare zip tie (ETC PN HW709)

Replacing the Keyboard Tray

  1. Open up the control panel on your console by following the instructions in this support post:
  2. Once the control panel is open, pull out the keyboard drawer and remove the keyboard

  1. Close the keyboard drawer and using the your snips, remove the zip tie holding the USB cable for the keyboard drawer's USB hub.
  2. Unplug the USB cable and black/yellow power cable from the USB hub.

  1. Pull the keyboard drawer all the way out. Using your #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws holding the keyboard tray to the side rails.
  2. Repeat the process for the other two screws on the other rail of the keyboard drawer.

  1. Once you have removed all 4 screws mentioned in steps 5 and 6 above, push the keyboard drawer back into the console about 1 inch to expose a third screw on each side.
  2. Using your #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove that 3rd screw from each side of the keyboard tray.

  1. Now that the tray is loose, pull down and out to remove the tray. You may have to try a couple of times to get the tray out.

Be careful not to damage the USB hub mounted to the back of the keyboard tray

  1. Now that the tray is removed, using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the face plate.
  2. Transfer that face plate to your new keyboard tray.

  1. Using your #1 Phillips Screwdriver, remove the two screws holding the USB hub bracket to the keyboard tray.
  2. Transfer the USB hub to your new keyboard tray.

  1. Now that you have transferred the USB hub and front face plate from your old keyboard tray to your new one, re-install the new keyboard tray in the side rails.
Important-Icon.png Be careful not to damage the USB hub mounted to the back of the keyboard tray
  1. Use the 6 screws you removed previously to secure the tray to the side rails.

  1. Push the keyboard tray all the way back into the console.
  2. Plug in the USB cable and black/yellow power harness back into the USB hub
  3. Use a spare zip tie to secure the USB cable to the cable USB hub bracket
