Console Stuck in Shell
Symptoms/Issue
When booting up the console, it displays the welcome screen and does not progress further. Buttons for Primary, Client, Offline, and Backup are present, but clicking them doesn't do anything. Clicking Settings will bring you into the Shell Settings.
Description/Explanation of Issue
The console cannot start the Eos application. Typically this is because it has been uninstalled. This can happen if you attempt to update the console software with an installer for the same version of software that the console is currently running.
Fix/Solution
- Select "Settings" and choose "Software Update" from the General tab.
- You may have archived installers present. If so, you can select one to reinstall a previously-installed software version.
- If you do not have an archived installer for the software version you want to use, download the desired version of software and put it on the root of a USB drive, then connect it to the console before selecting "Software Update."
- Proceed with the installation process. Once complete, boot the console into the desired operating mode.
