Using Macros for Multiconsole Auto Startup and Shutdown

Symptoms/Issue

I'd like my backup and client consoles to automatically startup and shutdown any time the Primary is started or shutdown

Description/Explanation of Issue

Remote startup and shutdown are great for multiconsole systems, but a board op still has to know how to send the multiconsole power on and off commands. This can be automated instead with startup and shutdown macros.

Fix/Solution

  1. Exit to the shell and enable "remote startup" and "remote shutdown" in the network settings of all client consoles in the system

  1. Build 2 macros, one for MultiConsole power on and one for MultiConsole power off

  1. In the file browser, navigate to setup>system settings>system
  2. Assign the macros you just built as your startup and shutdown macros
