General External Monitor Information for Consoles

Overview
ETC Eos and Congo/Cobalt family devices have varying compatibility with external monitors, including the number of external monitors supported by a device, maximum resolution supported, and the number and type of video ports on the device. This article serves as a reference for the monitor compatibility of each Eos and Congo/Cobalt family device.
The details of monitor compatibility depend on the device type, the specific hardware variation of the device, the video interface used, and in some cases the software running on the device.

DisplayPort Information
All Eos and Congo/Cobalt family devices with DisplayPort connectors include support for DDC/CI, which allows the console to control the brightness of any external monitors that also have DDC/CI support.
Devices with DisplayPort connectors do not support "daisy-chaining" multiple monitors from a single DisplayPort connector. Each connector can drive only one monitor.
Eos family devices running Windows 10 include USB-C ports. These USB-C ports cannot be used for video output via the DisplayPort Alternate Mode. The USB-C ports can be used to connect the touchscreen interface of a monitor otherwise connected via DisplayPort, if supported by the monitor.
When adapting a DisplayPort output to another video interface, the maximum supported resolution may be reduced. Refer to the following table:

ETC does not recommend passive adapters. Devices with three DisplayPort connectors can support a maximum of two passive adapters. The third monitor connection must be made via native DisplayPort or an active adapter.
Monitor Information by Device
On consoles and devices running Windows 7, driving 4K monitors may adversely impact performance. A maximum resolution of 2560x1440 is recommended for all Windows 7 hardware.
