My ETCpad is Constantly Reconnecting when using a Static IP Address

Symptoms

After defining a static IP address for the ETCpad when connecting to a network, the connection seems to constantly disconnect and reconnect.

Explanation of Issue

The "Default Gateway" address must be set to a device that actually exists on the network to answer an Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) request. If there isn't a response to the ARP request after a certain period, the ETCpad will restart the network discovery process.

Fix/Solution

  1. Set the Default Gateway address to the IP address of the router on the network
  2. If no router exists, set the Default Gateway address to match the IP address of the ETCpad itself.
