Question

Can the Response Analog I/O Gateway have both POE and 12-24VDC plugged in at the same time?

Answer

The short answer is YES.

When the 12-24VDC input is used POE is turned off at the Gateway so the Gateway is only using power from the DC input. In the event the network port for the Gateway goes down the electrically held relays will maintain state because of the 12-24VDC power supply providing power. However, for POE to be sourced to the Gateway again the 12-24VDC power source will have to be removed or turned off first.

Once the DC input is removed it will take the POE switch approximately 5 seconds to detect that the device needs POE. Once the device has power it takes an additional 5 seconds for the Gateway to fully boot.
