CEM+ Pulled While System Was Live
ETC does not recommend pulling a Sensor module while a system is powered on. Doing so can cause damage to the system
Symptoms/Issue
CEM+ was pulled while system was hot (live, powered on)
CEM+ no longer powers on or CEM+ appears to power on but does not boot
Arcing may have occurred
Explanation of Issue
ETC does not recommend pulling a Sensor module while a system is powered on. Doing so can cause damage to the system. Common damages include melted wiring harnesses, backplane damage, arc damage, and/or module damage.
If a CEM+ has been pulled while the system was live and does not power up or boot after the CEM+ is reinstalled and the system is powered back on, there are several events that have possibly occurred:
- CEM+ power board damage
- CEM+ wiring harnesses have been damaged/melted
- CEM+ backplane is damaged
- Other unseen damage in the Sensor rack
