Mitigation
If you are experiencing software problems on a Windows 10 console with a Universal Fader Wing, there are three main ways we have found to mitigate the issue.
- Use the power button on the face panel to power down the console.
- We have observed this crash only when powering up the console from a hard shutdown (power loss or using the switch on the rear panel). Shutting down using the face panel power button or from the browser/shell appears to avoid the crash when powering back up.
- Do not plug in the fader wing until after the console has booted.
- After a hard shutdown, disconnect the fader wing when booting the console, then plug it back in once the console has finished booting. This also avoids the crash.
- Use a USB hub between the fader wing and the console.
- We have observed this crash only when the fader wing is connected directly to the console via USB. Using a simple USB 2.0 or 3.0 hub between the console and fader wing appears to avoid the crash.
