Replacing Haptic Encoder on Apex Family Consoles

Introduction

This support post will walk you through replacing an encoder on any Apex Family Console. 

Apex consoles shipped after Feb 2024 have a different style of mounting plate that is flat and on two standoffs. The same encoder replacement is used for both styles of console.

Required Materials

  • Replacement Encoder (ETC PN 4300A2002-CFG) 
  • 7mm Nut Driver
  • 1/4" Open-Ended Wrench or Crescent Wrench

Replacing the Level Wheel

  1. Open up the control panel on your console by following the instructions in this support post:
  2. Un-clip and disconnect the data connection wires in the white header from the encoder.
  3. Using your Nut Driver, remove the (2) 5.5mm nuts holding the encoder mounting bracket.

  1. Remove encoder assembly on mounting bracket from console control panel.

  1. Using your 1/4" Open-Ended Wrench or Crescent Wrench, unthread the mounting bracket assembly from the wheel.

  1. Replace the encoder with replacement. 
  2. Reassemble encoder back to it's mounting bracket and back into console.
