ColorSource Raceway DMX Output Not Working

Issue

None of my DMX outputs port on the ColorSource Raceway are outputting DMX.

One/Some of my DMX outputs on the ColorSource Raceway are not outputting DMX.

Explanation of Issue

Each DMX output on the ColorSource Raceway is essentially a 1-in, 1-out, 1-thru DMX repeater. There is a DMX power supply in the Termination box that received power and DMX from outside of the raceway and then distributes that to the first output plate.  That output plate then repeats the DMX out of the XLR connector and passes through to the next DMX output plate.  Power also daisy-chains through the plates.

If no DMX outputs are working and the LED indicator is completely off, they may not be getting power.  If the LED indicator is blinking, then they have power but are not receiving Data.

If only some of the DMX outputs are working, which ones? if all of the nonworking

Fix/Solution

  1. If no DMX outputs are working and the LED indicator is completely off, they may not be getting power.  Check the incoming power to the DMX power supply in the Termination Box.
    1. Also check the small fuse labeled "F1" on the DMX termination board in the termination box.  There is a spare fuse on the circuit board, labeled "F2". You can also order more fuses from your local Dealer using ETC part number: F9030-F.
  2. If the LED indicator is blinking, then they have power but are not receiving Data.  Confirm DMX signal is good coming into the Termination box.  Also consider replacing the DMX chips on the DMX output circuit board.
    1. There are 2 DMX chips.  The one labelled U5 is for the XLR output port.  The one labeled U3 is for the RJ45 pass-thru to the next DMX output.

Note: There is no spare DMX chip on the DMX output circuit board.  However, if this is the last/only DMX output on your raceway, you can use U3 as a spare for U5, since the pass-thru is unused.
