Overtemp Errors in a Paradigm DRd

Symptoms

DRd ACP is displaying Overtemp Error for one or more dimmers.

Explanation of Issue

When a dimmer's power cube indicates it is running too hot, it sends the signal to the Dimming Engine, which then reports an overtemp error to the ACP on that dimmer. If only a couple modules are reporting errors, this issue is most often caused by the modules themselves, rather than any rack hardware.  If a whole section of the rack is reporting errors together, that may indicate an issue somewhere in the signal path between the module and the dimming engine.

Dimmer modules which are reporting a true overtemp error can be hot enough to cause burns when touched. Please exercise caution if your rack is reporting an overtemp error.

Solution

Do not remove any dimmer module while a rack is powered on. All dimmer racks must be fully powered OFF before a module can be removed.

1. On the ACP, navigate to View/Clear Errors to determine which circuits are reporting the error.
2. De-energize the rack.
3. Pull out the module reporting the error and swap it with another module of the same type from elsewhere in the rack

   2. If the issue follows the slot, there could be an issue with the load on that circuit 
      1. De-energize the circuit and have an electrician come out to investigate load wiring. 
      2. If a load issue can be ruled out, the signal distro card and ribbon cable may need to be replaced.
