UpdaterAtor 7.0.0 Fixture Update Issue

Issue

In May of 2026, UpdaterAtor v7.0.0 was briefly released and then subsequently pulled from distribution after it was discovered that it was using the incorrect timing on fixture update packets.

Symptoms

Depending on the fixture type, attempting to update fixtures from UpdaterAtor v7.0.0 may result in errors or a complete loss of firmware. While other fixture types may successfully update, ETC recommends that anyone using UpdaterAtor v7.0.0 should immediately discontinue its use and update to a stable version.

These fixtures will respond with an update error that will either clear on its own or after a power cycle:

  • ColorSource V fixtures
  • Source Four LED Series 3
  • fos/4 Panel
  • fos/4 Fresnel
  • Desire Fresnel

These fixtures will get stuck in a state with no firmware and will not be useable until they're recovered:

  • Source Four LED Series 1
  • Source Four LED Series 2
  • Desire D22, D40, and D60

Solution

A new version of UpdaterAtor was released with all timing issues resolved. Updating to 7.0.1 or higher should allow you to successfully update all fixture types. Download the latest version of UpdaterAtor here.

Fixtures that were left without firmware can be recovered from UpdaterAtor 7.0.1 by following these instructions.
